Tucked in a quiet corner of the Brickfields neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur, Alila Bangsar is a boutique hotel by Singapore-based luxury hotel and resort chain Alila; the brand’s first in Malaysia. The hotel has gained a steady clientele, mainly business folks and couples looking for a chill place to relax within the city, but still close enough to business and entertainment hubs. The hotel opened in 2018 with a total of 143 rooms. Rooms are only located between the 35th and 40th floors of the building.

The Chow Kit is a new hotel brand under the Ormond Group which opened on 2019, just before all this pandemic thing came about. The Chow Kit and sister hotel Momo’s Kuala Lumpur is located in the same building as the former Tune hotel Kuala Lumpur, but extensively refurbished.The Chow Kit district is an area rich with history and personality, and the hotel pays homage to that by embodying an old-world glamour design, with hints of film noir and styles of the 60s to 70s weaved throughout the timeless, welcoming space.Rooms are small, mirroring the working-class history of its walls. Clever design, however, makes efficient use of space enabling a feeling of luxury without the need for overindulgence.
